Creepy Crawlies!

On Tuesday, We had a presentation on Creepy Crawlies! The presenter talked with us about various insects, amphibians, and reptiles. At the end, the children who wanted to could touch a snake. If your child is NOT pictured below, then he/she chose NOT to touch the snake (and that's OK).

Constitution Day

Today was Constitution Day.  In observance of that, we watched the SchoolHouse Rock video about the Preamble on youtube.  I showed everyone pictures of Constitution Hall that I took in Philadelphia in April.  We talked about how they had candles for light because they had no electricity and they wrote with ink and a feather.  We then created our own kindergarten constitution for our classroom.

Daily Five: Read to Self

The Daily 5 is our language arts time.  As part of this we are building our stamina to be able to read to self (this including picture reading, retelling familiar stories, and actual reading of the words).  We started at 3 minutes on Monday and are up to 6 minutes of stamina.  We will continue to make this a longer period of time throughout the school year.  Below are pictures of our 'Read to Self' time this week.
